How to use our shop

Our shop is likely to be a little different to what you are normally used to…

A large part of our stock is loose. That means you have to choose how much you wish to purchase. So with one of your own containers, or one of ours, you weigh the container first, and then empty the goods into your container or bottle and pay for what you buy. The idea is that you reuse your containers or bottles repeatedly, rather than always getting new packaging with your goods.

What will we stock?

Dry foods - pulses, legumes, grains, cereals, spices, herbs etc

We have gravity dispensers that you will be able to pop your container underneath, pull down the handle, and then fill up your container with as much (or as little) as you need.

Liquid foods - milk, oils, vinegars, syrups etc

Liquids will be available from fusti containers. Simply pop your bottle underneath, turn the tap and pour in what you need. Be careful however as some of it comes out fast!

Nut Butter & Nut Milk - purchase nuts from us and make them into butter or milk?

Dairy free? Or simply want to know exactly what is in your spreads/milks? Create your own spreads and milks at our nut station. Purchase your nuts, and then we’ll make them exactly how you want them.

Coffee - supplied by local Coffee suppliers Beanpress

Purchase your coffee beans in store, and even get them ground for you completely free of charge. Great coffee without the fuss.

Cleaning fluids - washing liquids, toilet cleaners, fabric softeners, etc

We stock 20 and 5 litre containers of many different cleaning products, which can be used to refill your containers. Our products will be environmentally friendly, lightly fragranced and easy to refill.

Home & Personal Care goods - toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, shampoos, nappies, dog poo bags, bin bags etc

We will have an extensive range of different home and personal care goods, with everything you need in the bathroom, to the kitchen, and even for your furry friends. All products will be plastic free, environmentally friendly, and adhere to our ethical standards. See some of our stockists here.

So how do I buy foods or liquids?

Got your own container?

When you come on in, the first thing to do, is weigh all your containers. Simply bring them to the till, we will weigh them all out for you and apply an (eco friendly) sticker to your bottle noting its weight. And it’s fine if you don’t use them all that day, because at least they will be pre-weighed for future use!

You can then go and fill your container as needed and then bring to the till when ready to pay. We will then weigh your container again, subtract the weight of the container and then you pay for exactly what you bought. It’s SO important you weigh the container before you fill to ensure you get an accurate weight of your food/liquids. Failure to do so may result in an estimation of the bottle weight. We will provide scales for you to use around the store to give you an idea on how much product you are buying, so it’s important to start with a little, and add to it as necessary, as anything dispensed cannot be put back into the containers due to contamination risks.

Not got your own container?

You can either grab a fancy new bottle from one of our shelves, or a re-purposed bottle from one of the crates beneath the scoop bins. Repurposed bottles are sourced from Wareham cafes and shops and sterilised ready for use and all containers are put through our dishwasher to ensure they are sparkling for you. However, they are a little more mix and match than the bottles on shelves.

All bottles already in store, will be pre-weighed and marked, meaning you can pick them up and get filling. Once filled, bring them to the till and there you will be charged the cost of the bottle, and the weight of produce in it. In future, you can then bring these back and will not have to pre-weigh provided the sticker is still visible, and only pay for the goods in them.

So to keep it simple…

  1. Come in, weigh all containers you have brought at the till

  2. Shop around and fill pre-weighed containers with produce

  3. When done, bring back to till to weigh again, and we’ll subtract container weight

  4. Pay!

The more you re-use your containers, the quicker your shop will be! You only have to weigh it once, and provided the sticker with the weight is still visible, you can simply come in and get filling.

We will always have friendly staff around who can help you with the process and explain anything needed. Please never feel afraid to ask us for help!
