No? We didn't either.

This inspired us to open up Bare Necessities, the Zero Waste Place.

We are a small, zero waste shop based in sunny Wareham, Dorset. We are on a mission to reduce our impact on the environment, and we therefore do not use any single use plastic to package any products in store. Instead we encourage you to bring in your containers, to fill up with as much - or as little produce as you need, and simply pay for what you buy.

No paying for unnecessary packaging or buying more produce than you need. Bare Necessities is on the journey, with you, to improve the world we live in, one weekly shop at a time.

Much of our research when looking into opening the store was focused around what we were going to sell (obviously!).

We didn’t believe that quality should be compromised in the war against plastic. The stock we sell in store is only of the highest quality, but with a mix of organic and non-organic, vegan and non-vegan, to appeal to as many people as we can. We want to keep our prices competitive, without reducing quality or becoming a ‘specialist’ store and therefore feel this variety will appeal to most.

But rest assured, all our stock is ethically checked and must adhere to our high standards of both minimal impact production and superior quality.

We are on this plastic free mission with you.

We don’t sell ourselves to be perfect eco warriors, looking down on anyone that is trying to make just a small difference. Quite the opposite. We are always going to be learning with you how to reduce our impact and what people need ‘zero waste’.

So talk to us! If you have something you’d LOVE to see plastic free, let us know. We have the sources and means to go out and find what you want, and if we can, we’ll stock it for you to buy.
